A new wave of leadership and strength is set to bolster the Indian Army. On Saturday, during the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, 419 Indian cadets will be commissioned into the Army as Lieutenants. Alongside them, 32 foreign cadets from nine friendly nations will also pass out and return to serve in their respective armed forces.
Total of 451 Cadets Ready to Serve Their Nations
In total, 451 cadets will graduate from IMA, including 419 Indians and 32 from friendly foreign countries. Over the past few months, these cadets have undergone intense training in military leadership, strategic planning, physical endurance, ethics, and modern warfare techniques. IMA is globally known for its rigorous discipline and high standards.
Sri Lankan Army Chief to Attend as Chief Guest
The Chief Guest for this grand occasion will be Sri Lankan Army Commander Lieutenant General B.K.G.M. Liyanage Rodrigo. His visit is seen as an important step towards strengthening bilateral military cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.
Interestingly, Lt Gen Rodrigo himself is an alumnus of IMA, having been commissioned through the 87th course in December 1990. As the Reviewing Officer, he will relive his memories at the very institution where his journey began.
IMA: The Pride of Indian Military Training
Established in 1932, the Indian Military Academy has long been a premier institution that grooms top-notch officers for the Indian Army. Each passing out parade is a proud moment for the nation, symbolizing the beginning of a cadet’s journey into service and sacrifice.
The event will witness participation from proud families, military officials, and dignitaries. After the parade, cadets will step onto the “Antim Pag” (final step), a symbolic walk marking the end of their training and the beginning of their service as commissioned officers.
A Symbol of Unity and Global Military Partnership
The presence of foreign cadets highlights the IMA’s status not just as India’s military training ground, but as a hub of international military collaboration. Cadets from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Tajikistan, and Mauritius were among those trained in this course.
