75th Republic Day Celebrations Marked by Women Empowerment and Indo-French Camaraderie

India commemorated its 75th Republic Day on January 26, showcasing the might of its armed forces, cultural richness, and the strength of “Nari Shakti” (women power) on Kartavya Path in New Delhi. With the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’, the parade was especially women-centric, and French President Emmanuel Macron attended as the chief guest.

Key Moments from the 75th Republic Day Parade:

  1. Historic Women’s Musical Ensemble: For the first time, the Republic Day parade featured a grand entrance by 100 women artists playing traditional Indian musical instruments. The parade commenced with the melodious tunes of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, and more, all played by talented women artists.
  2. All-Women Tri-Service Contingent: Breaking barriers, an all-women tri-service contingent marched down Kartavya Path, showcasing the dedication and professionalism of women in the armed forces. The parade also included women personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).
  3. Vande Bharatam-Nari Shakti Performance: A spectacular performance titled “Vande Bharatam-Nari Shakti” featured 1,500 dancers, emphasizing unity in diversity. The dancers showcased 30 distinctive folk dance styles, including Kuchipudi, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Bollywood styles.
  4. Brave Women Bikers Display: A total of 265 women on motorcycles, including members of the CRPF, BSF, and SSB, displayed bravery and determination through various stunts. The display highlighted the strength of Indian values, including yoga, with specific performances by notable individuals.
  5. IAF’s Women Marching Contingent: The Indian Air Force’s marching contingent, led by Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur, demonstrated precision and discipline during the parade. The contingent marched with the motto ‘Nabh Sprisham Deeptam’ inscribed below the Himalayan Eagle.
  6. Traditional Flag Unfurling: Following tradition, the National Flag was unfurled with a booming 21-gun salute using indigenous 105-mm Indian Field Guns. President Droupadi Murmu and French President Emmanuel Macron were escorted by the President’s Bodyguard.
  7. Horsed Cavalry Regiment Display: The parade featured the 61st Cavalry of the Indian Army, the only serving horsed cavalry regiment globally. Led by Major Yashdeep Ahlawat, the regiment showcased a unique amalgamation of all “State Horsed Cavalry Units.”
  8. Mechanised Columns Showcase: Tank T-90 Bhishma, NAG missile systems, infantry combat vehicles, and other mechanized columns displayed the military prowess of India. Key equipment like the weapon locating radar system ‘Swathi’ and medium-range surface-to-air missiles were also part of the parade.
  9. Traditional Buggy Arrival: The Republic Day Parade began with President Droupadi Murmu taking the salute alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. The leaders arrived in a traditional buggy, escorted by the President’s Bodyguard.
  10. Grand Finale with Flypast: The celebrations concluded with a spectacular flypast featuring 46 aircraft of the Indian Air Force, including two Rafale fighters and an Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft of the French Air Force.

The 75th Republic Day Parade encapsulated the spirit of women empowerment and showcased the cultural diversity and military strength of India, strengthening ties with France on this momentous occasion.
