39 years since Air India Kanishka bombing: What happened and why are India-Canada divided over it?

India and Canada are observing the anniversary of the Kanishka bombing, one of the most heinous terror-related air disasters in civil aviation history. The Montreal-New Delhi Air India ‘Kanishka’ Flight 182 exploded 45 minutes before its scheduled landing at London’s Heathrow Airport on 23 June 1985, resulting in the deaths of all 329 people on board, the majority of whom were Canadians of Indian descent
