A World-Class Park to be Built at President's Residence in Dehradun

A world-class park will soon be developed at the President’s residence in Dehradun, marking a historic project for Uttarakhand. Equipped with modern facilities, sustainable design, and green spaces, the park will serve as a hub for environmental conservation, health activities, and cultural programs. President Droupadi Murmu will lay the foundation stone for the project on June 20, 2025.

A Landmark Initiative for Uttarakhand

The President’s residence in Dehradun, known as ‘Ashiana,’ will be transformed into a world-class park spread over 132 acres. On June 20, President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the park’s foundation stone. The President’s residence itself will be opened to the public on the same day, while the park is expected to be fully developed and dedicated to the public by 2026.

A high-level meeting, chaired by Additional Secretary Dr. Rakesh Gupta, was held at the President’s Ashiana on Thursday, where senior government officials reviewed the park’s development plan. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being prepared, ensuring that the project aligns with the President’s vision of public engagement and environmental sustainability.

Key Features of the Park

The park aims to become a center for eco-tourism, fitness, and cultural activities. Some of its standout features include:

  • Multi-Activity Zones: Designed for sports, fitness, and recreational activities.
  • Cycling Tracks: Dedicated lanes for cycling enthusiasts.
  • World-Class Sports Facilities: High-quality sports infrastructure for various games.
  • Children’s Play Areas: Engaging and safe zones for children.
  • Picnic Lawns: Relaxing green spaces for families and visitors.
  • Jogging & Walking Tracks: Paved paths for jogging and nature walks.
  • Forest Nature Trails: Green trails to promote nature walks and environmental awareness.
  • Water Features: Lakes, fountains, and water bodies enhancing the landscape.
  • Amphitheater & Cultural Spaces: Dedicated zones for performances and cultural events.

Public Engagement and Feedback

The Uttarakhand government is seeking public input for the park’s design and development. Suggestions from local residents and experts will be collected to ensure the project meets public expectations. Citizens can submit their feedback via an official form available on the Presidential website: https://rb.nic.in/ashiana until April 6, 2025. A QR code will also be provided for easy access to the feedback page.

Infrastructure Development and Accessibility

Dr. Rakesh Gupta has directed the concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of infrastructure facilities, including:

  • Road connectivity
  • Electricity and water supply
  • Traffic management and parking spaces
  • Communication and security arrangements

Opening of Ashiana to the Public

On June 20, 2025, the President’s Ashiana, covering 21 acres, will officially open to the public. The residence will feature visitor centers, horse riding facilities, an amphitheater, art exhibition spaces, a cafeteria, a souvenir store, and much more. The government is ensuring that all construction and development work is completed on schedule.
