Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continued their protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, staging a demonstration outside the Delhi assembly. The AAP members, including ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, wore yellow T-shirts with the slogan ‘Main Bhi Kejriwal’ (I am also Kejriwal) printed on the back, symbolizing solidarity with their party leader.

The protest denounced what they called ‘dictatorship’ under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding the release of Kejriwal, who is also the national convenor of AAP.

The demonstration took place ahead of a Delhi assembly session scheduled for March 27, the first session since Kejriwal’s arrest. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with an alleged scam related to the Delhi liquor policy. Kejriwal and AAP have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, labeling the ED’s actions as a ‘witch-hunt’ by the BJP-led central government.

In a media appearance, Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, announced that the jailed chief minister would make a “big expose” related to the excise policy scam before the court on Thursday. She highlighted concerns about Kejriwal’s health, noting his fluctuating sugar levels and asserting his determination despite health challenges.

The Delhi High Court issued notices to the ED regarding Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest and remand, scheduling further hearing for April 3. The court emphasized the principles of natural justice and fairness, granting the ED an opportunity to respond to Kejriwal’s allegations.

Meanwhile, the ED summoned AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar for questioning in a money-laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy. Palekar, along with other party leaders, faces allegations of using illicit funds in the Goa assembly elections.

Kejriwal’s arrest and subsequent developments have sparked political and legal debates, with AAP leaders and supporters rallying behind him while BJP leaders question his continued tenure as chief minister amid the ongoing legal proceedings. The unfolding events underscore the intense political landscape in Delhi and the broader implications for governance and electoral dynamics.
