Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ‘s recent visit to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sparked discussions about his apparent shift in behavior towards Hindu sentiments. Kejriwal’s gesture of seeking divine blessings at the temple and sharing pictures of his visit on social media signifies a departure from his previous statements and actions regarding Lord Ram and Hinduism.
In the past, Arvind Kejriwal has been criticized for making derogatory remarks about Lord Ram and dismissing the significance of Hindu Epic books. His statements questioning the existence of Lord Ram and opposing the construction of a statue in Delhi were met with widespread condemnation from the Hindu community. Many accused him of attempting to appease Muslim voters by denigrating Hindu beliefs.
However, Kejriwal’s recent visit to Ayodhya and his expression of reverence towards Lord Ram indicate a possible change in his approach. By participating in religious rituals and seeking the blessings of the deity, Kejriwal appears to be making a conscious effort to connect with Hindu sentiments and rebuild trust among the community.
Some may interpret Kejriwal’s actions as mere political posturing, especially in light of his announcement to contest all Lok Sabha seats in Punjab. His alliance with the INDIA bloc, comprising various opposition parties, underscores the political dynamics at play.
Yet, regardless of the underlying motives, Kejriwal’s Ayodhya visit raises questions about the authenticity of his newfound respect for Hindu beliefs. Can a leader’s behavior truly evolve, or is it merely a strategic maneuver to garner support and votes?
