Jammu and Kashmir – Authorities have detained 50 individuals, including a truck driver, as part of an extensive search operation for the terrorists responsible for ambushing an Army vehicle, resulting in the deaths of five army personnel.

The ambush occurred near Badnota village in Lohai Malhar. Officials report that a civilian truck, moving behind the army convoy on a mountainous road, slowed down near the attack site. Terrorists launched their assault from two directions, leading to the deaths of five army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer.

Authorities are investigating whether the civilian driver intentionally delayed the convoy by requesting to pass through a culvert, which typically would not be allowed, as army vehicles are given priority in such areas. This delay is being scrutinized to determine if it played a role in facilitating the ambush.

Despite heavy rain, a large-scale search operation is being conducted by the army and police across four districts: Kathua, Udhampur, Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch. The thick forest terrain is being thoroughly combed to locate and eliminate the terrorists suspected to be hiding there.

The ambush has caused significant anxiety among residents of Badnota village and surrounding areas. Villagers are calling for the formation of village defense groups to tackle terrorist threats and are requesting weapons and training to assist security forces.

In addition to the detentions, search operations have been intensified, especially in the upper areas of Doda district, following a recent shootout between terrorists and security forces. Army and police teams have launched new searches on Wednesday morning, aiming to ensure the safety and security of the region’s inhabitants.

The local community is urging the government to equip and train village defense groups, expressing a willingness to collaborate with security forces in the fight against terrorism. Their primary concern is to safeguard their lives and property in the wake of such violent incidents.
