Dehradun, Uttarakhand:
A leisurely afternoon by the Rispana river turned into a life-threatening encounter for Nikhil and his friends when they faced an unexpected attack by a Guldar Kaal (leopard). Nikhil, returning home after a playful day in the river, found himself in the clutches of the wild beast. However, the bravery of his companions proved to be a saving grace, pulling Nikhil from the jaws of danger.
Nikhil, accompanied by his neighbors Kamal Thapa, Gautam Thapa, Umesh Thapa, and the youngest among them, Karan Thapa, had ventured out for an afternoon of play by the river. As the day progressed, the group decided to head back home, creating a memorable day filled with camaraderie.
As dusk settled in, the friends gathered their belongings, with one of them collecting gourds from the riverbank vines. Nikhil, walking a few steps behind, was unaware of the impending danger lurking in the shadows.
It was around six in the evening when a scream pierced the air, alerting the friends to a life-threatening situation. To their horror, they witnessed Nikhil in the clutches of a Guldar Kaal. Without hesitation, the four companions rushed to his aid, grabbing hold of Nikhil’s legs as the leopard had its grip on the back of his head.
Their collective effort pulled Nikhil away from the danger, and their cries for help attracted the attention of nearby people. Swiftly, Nikhil was rescued and brought back to the safety of the colony. The arrival of the police and ambulance further ensured Nikhil’s well-being.
Kamal Thapa recounted the harrowing incident, emphasizing that the timing and swift action were crucial. If Nikhil had been just two steps further away, the outcome might have been tragic. Even young Karan Thapa, at just 12-13 years old, displayed remarkable bravery alongside his older companions.
Nikhil is currently undergoing treatment, expected to return home soon. The bravery exhibited by these four friends will be eternally remembered as a testament to courage and solidarity in the face of adversity.
