Business Dispute Turns Deadly in Ghaziabad: Hotel Owner Shot Dead, Cousin Injured

Ghaziabad, June 2 — A 32-year-old hotelier, identified as Rahul Dagar, was shot dead by his business associates late Sunday night in a marketplace in Raj Nagar Extension, police said. The incident, which occurred around 9:30 PM, also left Dagar’s 25-year-old cousin, Ashish Kumar, seriously injured. Police have arrested one accused, Ritesh Bindal, and are on the lookout for six others involved in the crime.

Dagar, a resident of Sikrod, owned hotels in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani and Noida. According to police, a business dispute over their joint hotel venture in Haldwani led to the deadly confrontation.

“Two shots were fired — one struck Rahul in the chest, leading to his death, and the other hit Ashish in the leg, who is currently undergoing treatment,” said Dhawal Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (City Zone). He added that the accused and the victims were former friends and business partners.

An FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

  • 103(1) (murder)
  • 109(1) (attempt to murder)
  • 191 (rioting)
  • 115 (voluntarily causing hurt)
  • 351(3) (criminal intimidation)

The accused named in the FIR include Nagendra Chaudhary, Manish Chaudhary, Rohit Chaudhary, Ritesh Bindal, Mantri (single name), and two unidentified persons.

Police teams have been deployed across Ghaziabad and adjoining areas to track and arrest the remaining suspects. The incident has sparked concern in the business community and locals are urging swift justice for the victim.
