Canada-Based Gangster Goldy Brar Designated as a Terrorist by Indian Government

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in India has officially designated Satwinder Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The move comes as Goldy Brar is allegedly involved in anti-India activities in collaboration with Khalistani extremist outfits in Canada, particularly associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Goldy Brar, who has an Interpol red notice issued against him and is on Canada’s list of 25 most wanted persons, is believed to be operating out of Brampton, Canada. He is accused of supervising the activities of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and providing assistance to pro-Khalistan outfits, including Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), in various illicit activities such as smuggling weapons and drugs, targeted killings, and recruitment of youngsters.

The MHA notification states that Goldy Brar is associated with the Babbar Khalsa International and has been involved in multiple killings. He is known for professing radical ideology, making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, demanding ransom, and posting claims of killings on various social media platforms. The notification highlights his role in smuggling high-grade arms, ammunition, and explosive materials through drones from across the border.

Goldy Brar is also reported to have claimed responsibility for the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He is on the list of Canada’s 25 most-wanted persons.

The MHA’s decision to designate Goldy Brar as a terrorist allows law enforcement agencies to attach his properties and conduct trials against him in absentia. It also strengthens the case for his extradition, and the move underscores the Indian government’s commitment to addressing transnational criminal activities.

Goldy Brar, originally from Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, moved to Canada on a student visa in 2017. In Canada, he is believed to be working closely with BKI terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa and other pro-Khalistan entities. Indian agencies are in contact with Canadian authorities to pursue extradition or deportation proceedings against Brar and another gangster-turned-Khalistani, Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating the funding activities of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in India, Canada, Thailand, and Malaysia. The funds generated from the gang’s illegal activities, including extortion, arms smuggling, were allegedly sent to Goldy Brar for further investment and funding radical activities of pro-Khalistan elements.

The designation of Goldy Brar as a terrorist reflects India’s commitment to combating organized crime with international ramifications and maintaining the integrity of its national security.
