In a concerning incident, a chlorine gas leak occurred in the Jhanjra area of Prem Nagar police station in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Tuesday morning. The leak triggered panic among residents, prompting authorities to swiftly respond to the situation.

Upon receiving information about the chlorine gas leak, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with other security forces, rushed to the spot to assess and manage the situation. The Dehradun police, along with the NDRF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and fire teams, have taken action for the safe disposal of the leaked chlorine gas, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Ajay Singh.

SSP Ajay Singh stated, “On receiving information about people facing difficulty in breathing due to leakage in the chlorine cylinder kept in the empty plot in the Jhanjra area of Prem Nagar police station in Dehradun, Police, NDRF, SDRF, and fire team reached the spot and are taking action for safe disposal.”

Previous Incidents:
Sahaspur MLA Sahdev Singh Pundir highlighted that seven chlorine cylinders had been stored at an empty plot in the area, emphasizing the potential danger the leakage posed. Fortunately, due to the coordinated efforts of authorities, a major disaster was averted. There have been no reported casualties at this time.
