Tough Stand on Land Law Violations in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued a strong warning against those violating the state’s land law, stating that strict action will be taken against individuals or entities found guilty of misuse. Addressing the growing concerns over unchecked land purchases, Dhami said that some people were acquiring large parcels of land illegally and exploiting loopholes in the existing law. He pointed out that the people of Uttarakhand had long expected a tough land regulation to protect the region’s interests, especially in the hill districts where demographic and ecological balance is delicate.

The Chief Minister emphasized that his government has now enacted a strict land law aimed at preventing misuse and ensuring accountability. Those who violate the provisions of the law will not be spared, and enforcement agencies are already taking action against offenders. Dhami’s statement reflects a clear intent to address the public outcry over the dilution of local rights and to safeguard the state’s natural resources and identity.

The new law is expected to impose limitations on non-agricultural land purchases, especially by non-residents, and enforce stricter checks to prevent land hoarding or unauthorized conversion. In a state where land is deeply tied to cultural, environmental, and social identity, the move has been welcomed by many residents who see it as a long-overdue step toward preserving Uttarakhand for future generations.
