Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Nears Completion: Set to Open Soon

The highly anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, designed for enhanced passenger convenience and safety, is now in its final phase. Due to some minor pending works, vehicular movement has not yet commenced. However, according to sources, the expressway is expected to be operational within the next two to three months.

Key Features of the Expressway

The 212-kilometer long Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will feature 76 kilometers of service roads and 16 entry and exit points, ensuring seamless travel for commuters. Safety measures and structural reinforcements are being put in place to ensure a hassle-free journey. Additionally, pedestrian convenience has been prioritized, with foot-over bridges installed at major locations to facilitate smooth crossings.

Over 90% of the Work Completed

Starting from Shastri Park in Delhi, the expressway passes through Mandola, Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur, significantly reducing travel time while opening new economic avenues for local communities. Over 90% of the construction has been completed, and reports suggest that a 32-kilometer stretch from Akshardham Temple to Baghpat will soon be opened. While an official inauguration date is yet to be announced, speculation indicates that the expressway will be operational within the next two to three months.

Scenic Views and Unique Features

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is set to become India’s third-largest elevated road, significantly improving travel time and offering passengers breathtaking scenic views. The journey from Dehradun to Delhi, which currently takes around six hours, will be reduced to just two and a half hours. Notably, 12 kilometers of the expressway will pass through a forested area, allowing travelers to experience nature’s beauty before reaching Uttarakhand. Furthermore, the expressway boasts Asia’s longest wildlife corridor, designed to facilitate the free movement of elephants and other wildlife, while vehicles travel safely above.

With its advanced infrastructure and eco-friendly design, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is poised to redefine connectivity between the national capital and the serene landscapes of Uttarakhand.
