Dhami Government Halts Trees Cutting for Road Widening Project Following Public Outcry

The Dhami government has decided that no trees will be cut from Dilaram Chowk to the Chief Minister’s residence. In response to increasing public outrage, the government has retreated on its initial plan. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the concerned officials that widening the road by cutting down trees is unacceptable.

The Dhami government has backed down
Initially, the plan proposed the removal of 244 trees for the road widening project from Dilaram Chowk to the Chief Minister’s residence. However, the state government reversed this decision on Thursday. According to the PWD proposal, the widening of the road required the removal of 244 trees, and preparations were being made to survey these trees and seek approval from the state and central governments for their removal. Following Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directive, alternative methods for road widening without cutting trees are now being explored.
