Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the Municipal Commissioners and Police Commissioners of Thane and Mira-Bhayander to bulldoze all illegal constructions associated with drug activities. This directive aims to curb the drug menace in these cities and create a drug-free environment.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Shinde emphasized the need for strict action against unauthorized pubs and bars that contribute to drug abuse. This directive follows a recent crackdown in Pune, where illegal constructions linked to drug activities were demolished. CM Shinde has now extended this initiative to Thane and Mira-Bhayander, urging similar measures to eradicate illegal drug-related establishments.
Addressing Drug Abuse: Government Actions and Initiatives
The decision to demolish illegal constructions comes in the wake of reports of drug consumption among youths in Pune. Maharashtra CM Shinde has taken serious note of these incidents, instructing the Pune Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner to dismantle unauthorized constructions associated with drugs using bulldozers. This approach has seen extensive action in Pune, and the same strategy is now being implemented in Thane and Mira-Bhayander.
