Elevated Road Over Rispana and Bindal River in Dehradun to Ease Traffic Woes

In a major infrastructure push, the Uttarakhand government has proposed an elevated four-lane road over Rispana and Bindal rivers in Dehradun to tackle the city’s growing traffic congestion. The project is expected to have a budget allocation of approximately ₹6000 crore, and preparations at the departmental level have already begun.

Project Planning and Land Acquisition

The Public Works Department (PWD) is currently assessing the land conditions and financial aspects of this ambitious project. The construction of the elevated road will help reduce traffic pressure in the city by providing an alternative route to major areas.

The project is still in its initial phase, with discussions taking place under the supervision of PWD Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey. Land acquisition along the riverbanks has already started, and formalities for transferring forest land in the region are also being completed. Additionally, the district administration has outlined a plan to remove unauthorized settlements along the rivers to facilitate construction.

Budget and Financial Planning

The financial aspects of the project are being discussed at the department level. Given the scale and significance of the initiative, a substantial budget is required. Authorities anticipate that the project will commence by 2025. An estimated ₹2500 crore is expected to be spent on the elevated road over Rispana river, while the Bindal river segment is projected to cost around ₹3500 crore.

Project Execution and Impact on Traffic

The construction will begin near the Vidhan Sabha area along Rispana river and extend towards Sahastradhara and Rajpur Road. Upon completion, the elevated road is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, diverting vehicles towards Rajpur and Sahastradhara, thus improving the overall traffic flow in Dehradun.

As the project moves forward, residents and commuters eagerly await a much-needed solution to the city’s traffic issues. Stay tuned for further updates on this transformative development in Dehradun’s urban infrastructure.
