In yet another tragic incident in Uttarakhand’s capital, Dehradun, a high-speed collision involving multiple vehicles occurred near the Daat Kali temple at Dhulkot, claiming one life and leaving three others seriously injured. The accident underscores the continuing risk posed by reckless driving in the region, especially on the busy and often narrow stretches connecting the city to neighboring areas.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when a speeding vehicle coming from the wrong side crashed head-on into a black Honda Accord. The impact was so severe that a third car — a white Hyundai Venue traveling from Dehradun to Vikasnagar — also lost control and collided with the two vehicles. In a matter of seconds, the three cars were mangled together in a chaotic pile-up.
One person died on the spot due to the intensity of the collision. Local residents, along with police personnel, quickly responded to the scene. The injured were immediately transported to the nearby Graphic Era Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed yet, pending notification of the family.
The police have taken possession of the deceased’s body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Investigators believe that the primary cause of the accident was the high speed of the vehicles combined with reckless wrong-side driving — a recurring factor in many such accidents in the area. Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident, while also informing the families of the victims.
This accident adds to the growing list of traffic tragedies in Dehradun, highlighting the urgent need for stricter road safety enforcement and public awareness. The Daat Kali stretch, in particular, has witnessed several serious accidents in the past, raising concerns over driver behavior and the effectiveness of traffic regulations in the area.
