After the Haldwani Violence, the police have intensified their search for stone-pelters. Primarily, around five thousand unidentified individuals are under scrutiny. Meanwhile, due to the strict actions taken by the police, many individuals have gone into hiding. On the other hand, the Forest Department is concerned that those involved in encroachments in reserved forest areas or outer regions might try to hide.
Therefore, on Friday, the Forest Department’s team conducted patrols in various parts of the forests near Gaula Range, which encompasses Banbhoolpur. Although no suspicious persons were apprehended, the Forest Department is apprehensive about individuals evading police action by seeking refuge in the forests.
As a precautionary measure, on Friday, a team of forest workers conducted patrols from Amla Chauki, Indiranagar, Lalkuan, Bagjala, Gaulapul, and Bagjala to Danibangar. Thirty forest workers, split among three vehicles, were engaged in combing the forests. Ranger Gaula Chandan Officer stated that every possible effort will be made to ensure the security of forest areas and to prevent the infiltration of suspicious individuals.
The Forest Department is also compiling a report on encroachments on forest lands. Previously, the Forest Department had launched campaigns against encroachments. However, subsequent actions were halted. According to sources, reports concerning matters related to forest lands are being revisited for further action.
