Distinguished Career and Background
General Dwivedi, originally from Madhya Pradesh, embarked on his illustrious military journey at Sainik School Rewa before joining the National Defence Academy in January 1981. He was commissioned into the 18th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles on December 15, 1984. His extensive career includes commanding his battalion in both the Kashmir Valley and the deserts of Rajasthan.
Operational and Leadership Excellence
Throughout his service, General Dwivedi has demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership in various terrains and operational environments, including deserts, high altitudes, riverine, built-up areas, the North East, and Jammu and Kashmir. His notable roles include serving as Inspector General of the Assam Rifles and commanding the Rising Star Corps along the Western Front.
From 2022 to 2024, General Dwivedi commanded the prestigious Northern Army, where he provided strategic guidance and operational oversight for sustained operations along the Northern and Western borders. He played a crucial role in modernizing and equipping the largest Command of the Indian Army, steering the induction of indigenous equipment as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Strategic and Technological Contributions
At the Integrated Headquarters (IHQ) of the Army, General Dwivedi significantly contributed to the Military Secretary’s branch and played a pivotal role in raising a section in the Military Operations Directorate. As the Director General of Infantry, he expedited capital procurement of weapons for all three services, enhancing the capabilities of the Armed Forces. As Deputy Chief, he championed automation and the integration of niche technologies, including big data analytics, AI, quantum computing, and blockchain solutions.
International Experience and Education
General Dwivedi’s international experience includes tenures in Somalia with HQ UNOSOM II and as a Military Advisor to the Government of Seychelles. His academic credentials are equally impressive, with an M.Phil. in Defence & Management Studies, and two Master’s degrees in Strategic Studies and Military Science, including one from the USAWC, USA.
Personal Life
General Dwivedi is married to Sunita Dwivedi, a science graduate and homemaker deeply involved with Aarushi, an institute for children with special abilities in Bhopal. The couple has two daughters who are actively engaged with NGOs.
