High Court Halts Construction of Prime Minister Modi’s Dream Project Sainya Dham

The construction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, Sainya Dham, has been temporarily halted by the High Court due to allegations of land encroachment. The High Court’s decision comes amid claims that a portion of the land being used for the project is privately owned.

Key Points:

  • Land Encroachment Allegations:
There have been accusations of land encroachment concerning the Sainya Dham project. Consequently, the High Court has ordered a halt to the construction. The next hearing is scheduled for July 18. Dehradun resident Sanjay Kanojia alleges that a part of the Sainya Dham has been built on 1500 square meters of land he purchased in his wife Seema Kanojia’s name, which he considers an encroachment.
  • The Full Story:
Sanjay Kanojia claims that the main gate of the Sainya Dham is being constructed on his land. Despite previous complaints, he found no resolution, leading him to seek justice from the High Court. The court has since paused the construction. An RTI application filed by Kanojia revealed the truth about the land usage. There has been a proposal to offer him an alternative piece of land adjacent to Sainya Dham in exchange.
  • Government’s Stance:
The government maintains that no new construction is allowed within 500 meters of Sainya Dham. Kanojia has stated that he does not oppose the Sainya Dham project itself but seeks land of equal market value and suitability for construction elsewhere.
  • Remarks from Ganesh Joshi:
Ganesh Joshi, the Minister for Soldiers’ Welfare, stated that it is inappropriate to comment on the High Court’s decision. He suggested that incorrect facts might have been presented in court, clarifying that the government has not officially banned construction within 500 meters of Sainya Dham. This restriction is currently just a proposal from the Directorate of Soldiers’ Welfare awaiting government approval.
