In a historic and emotional moment in Ayodhya, PM Narendra Modi participated in the pran pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram, seeking forgiveness for the delay in the construction of the Ayodhya temple. The grand event unfolded with a sense of reverence and joy, marking the culmination of centuries-long aspirations of millions of devotees.
PM Modi, addressing a gathering of dignitaries and VVIPs in the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple premises, expressed a profound apology to Lord Shri Ram. He acknowledged that something might have been lacking in the collective effort, sacrifice, and penance, resulting in the delayed completion of the sacred task. He appealed to Lord Ram to forgive the shortcomings, emphasizing that the work has now been accomplished.
“Today, I also apologise to Lord Shri Ram. There must be something lacking in our effort, sacrifice and penance that we could not do this work for so many centuries. Today the work has been completed. I believe that Lord Shri Ram will definitely forgive us today…” PM Modi said.
As the pran pratishtha rituals took place during the auspicious ‘Abhijeet muhurat,’ PM Modi symbolically opened the eyes of the idol of Lord Ram Lalla in the most sacred 84 seconds of the 48-minute ceremony. The 51-inch idol, sculpted by Karnataka’s Arun Yogiraj, depicted Ram Lalla as a five-year-old, capturing innocence, divinity, and royalty with exquisite details.
The Prime Minister, along with key figures like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and others, participated in the elaborate ceremony. PM Modi expressed that Ram Lalla would no longer reside in a tent but in the grand temple, marking the dawn of a new era on January 22, 2024.
“The sunrise of January 22 has brought a wonderful glow. January 22, 2024, is not a date written on the calendar. It is the origin of a new time cycle,” he declared.
The completion of the consecration ceremony marked the end of a week-long series of rituals that began on January 16. The Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, stands with a length of 380 feet, a width of 250 feet, and a height of 161 feet. Adorned with intricate sculptures of Hindu deities and supported by 392 pillars, it signifies not just the fulfillment of a political promise but a testament to India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, addressing the gathering, proclaimed that the 500-year-old dream of a Ram temple in Ayodhya had finally come true. He reflected on the struggles and sacrifices, emphasizing that now Ayodhya would witness no more curfews or firings.
As the entire nation rejoices in this historic moment, Ayodhya becomes the epicenter of a cultural renaissance, symbolizing unity, faith, and the triumph of collective aspirations. The Ram Mandir stands as a testament to the resilience of the people’s spirit and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream.
