In a recent edition of the ISIS-backed magazine, “Voice of Khurasan,” a disturbing section has emerged, explicitly targeting India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hindus, and Hindu leaders. The magazine openly calls for the genocide of Hindus and accuses Indian Hindu leaders of being anti-Muslim. The cover page article, provocatively titled “O Polytheist Indian Kings! Be ready to face Mahmud Ghaznavi again!”, urges Islamists to launch violent jihad against India and its leaders by invoking historical Islamic conquests.
Calls for Genocide and Violence
The inflammatory article incites violence against Hindus by encouraging readers to commit heinous acts. It reads:
“Hit the Indian polytheists with cars, cut their stomachs with knives, burn temples, houses, cars, property, and crops, target crowded places, and show them that the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad is still alive.”
The magazine also calls on Islamists worldwide to attack India if Indian Muslims are unable to do so, stating:
“If the Muslims in India are not able to overcome these polytheists, the gates of all the Wilayat of the Islamic State are yours to advance.”
Historical Invocations and Global Conflict
The article attempts to draw parallels between modern-day conflicts and historical Islamic conquests, glorifying invaders like Muhammad bin Qasim and Mahmud Ghaznavi. By invoking these figures, the author calls for the revival of their conquests and urges modern-day Muslims to reclaim the Indian subcontinent through violent jihad. The magazine frames this call to action within the context of a global conflict between Islam and its “perceived enemies,” claiming that disbelievers from both East and West are united in their efforts to destroy the Islamic Ummah.
Targeting Indian Leadership
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are specifically targeted in the article, accused of oppressing Muslims and being staunch enemies of Islam. The magazine repeats accusations often used by liberal critics, suggesting that PM Modi and the BJP mistreat Indian Muslims. One key grievance highlighted is the construction of the Bhavya Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, following the court-ordered demolition of the illegal structure referred to as Babri Masjid by the magazine. The article alleges that PM Modi mocks Islamic rituals and policies, describing his administration as an extremist Hindu nationalist regime responsible for subjugating Muslims.
Derogatory Comments on Ram Mandir
ISIS’s disdain for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is evident, as the article calls for attacks on the temple. It falsely claims that the premises are used for obscene parties and the consumption of alcohol to humiliate Muslims. The magazine laments the participation of PM Modi, film personalities, businessmen, and politicians in the Pran Prathishta ceremony in January 2024, condemning the celebration of the temple’s construction.
The incendiary rhetoric in the latest issue of “Voice of Khurasan” underscores the persistent and dangerous threat posed by ISIS. The calls for violence and genocide are a grim reminder of the group’s extremist ideology. It is crucial for global communities to remain vigilant and counter such hateful propaganda, promoting peace and understanding among different faiths and cultures.
