A Call for Cultural Identity and Land Rights Awareness

The Mool Niwas Samiti has decided to organize a rally in the Kumaon region to raise awareness. In Dehradun, a massive crowd has surged, determined to awaken the government. The Mool Niwas rally will take place in Bageshwar on January 15th, featuring a procession from Uttaryani Kauthig, where thousands of people from across the state will gather. During a meeting of the Mool Niwas and Land Rights Coordination Struggle Committee held at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Dehradun, it was decided that a Mool Niwas Swabhiman Mahayatra will also be organized in Haldwani in the last week of January.

The rally aims to spread awareness about Mool Niwas through various organized programs. Following this, during the Makar Sankranti festival, members of the committee will visit all the confluences and ghats in the state to seek blessings from the dev dolis and engage in dialogue with the people. Subsequently, on the day of Uttaryani, a large number of people will gather at the historic Sarayu Bagad Mela in Bageshwar. The event in Bageshwar Kauthig will highlight how our cultural identity is diminishing. Mohit Dimri, the coordinator of the committee, mentioned that the ongoing movement to implement the 1950 boundary and empower land laws will be taken across the state.
