Padma awards, among India’s highest civilian honors, are bestowed in three categories—Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri—recognizing exceptional contributions across various domains including art, social work, science, literature, sports, and civil service. The Padma Vibhushan is conferred for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order, and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.
In this year’s Padma awards, a total of 132 individuals were honored, including 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri awardees, reflecting diversity and excellence across different sectors and demographics.

Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International Social Service Organization, was praised for advocating behavior change and promoting hygienic sanitation practices among millions.
Padma Subrahmanyam’s contribution to Bharatiya Sastriya Natana, bridging the gap between history, theory, and practice, was lauded by the president, acknowledging her significant role in enriching India’s cultural heritage.
The Padma awards ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S.
