Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Abu Dhabi for a two-day visit, expressed his gratitude to United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support in the construction of the BAPS Mandir. The inauguration of the first Hindu stone temple in Abu Dhabi is scheduled for February 14, and PM Modi thanked President Nahyan during a bilateral meeting for his instrumental role in making the temple a reality.

The BAPS Mandir, to be inaugurated by PM Modi, holds significant importance as it symbolizes the strong cultural ties between India and the UAE. Constructed with pink Rajasthan sandstone and white Italian marble, the temple stands as a testament to the commitment to harmony and tolerance shared by both nations. President Nahyan’s generous donation of 13.5 acres of land in 2015, followed by an additional 13.5 acres in January 2019, facilitated the construction of this magnificent temple.

During their meeting, PM Modi referred to President Nahyan as his “brother” and emphasized the close relationship between India and the UAE. The leaders witnessed the exchange of multiple agreements, including a bilateral investment treaty, which is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two nations in various sectors such as investments, electricity trade, and digital payment platforms.

In addition to inaugurating the BAPS Mandir, PM Modi addressed a gathering of the Indian diaspora at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, where he lauded the deep-rooted friendship between India and the UAE. The vibrant event, titled “Ahlan Modi,” witnessed enthusiastic participation from the diaspora, reflecting the strong bond shared between the two countries.

PM Modi’s visit to the UAE marks another milestone in the bilateral relations, with both nations committed to enhancing cooperation across multiple domains, including trade, investment, energy security, and defense. The visit also sets the stage for further engagements as PM Modi embarks on his tour to Qatar, highlighting India’s growing engagement with countries in the Gulf region.
