As the nation eagerly awaits the historic consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the state of Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is fervently contributing to the grandeur of the event. The chief minister has intensified preparations, calling upon the people to engage in various celebratory activities in the lead-up to the monumental day.
Uttarayani Festival and Fair Aligned with Ram Temple Theme:
Chief Minister Dhami has directed the celebration of the traditional Uttarayani festival and fair, typically observed on Makar Sankranti in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, to be aligned with the theme of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony. This marks a symbolic integration of local festivities with the national event, fostering a sense of unity and celebration.
Dhami’s Appeals for Community Participation:
In a bid to engage the community, Chief Minister Dhami has called for the following activities:
- Deepotsav in Homes: Encouraging households to illuminate their homes with the radiance of diyas (traditional lamps) as part of Deepotsav.
- Kalash Yatras: Organizing processions featuring decorated pots symbolizing auspiciousness and abundance.
- Ram Katha: Narration of the epic saga of Lord Ram, promoting cultural and religious understanding.
- Ghat Cleaning Campaign: A community-driven initiative to clean the river ghats, promoting environmental consciousness.
- Essay and Painting Competitions: In schools, focusing on the ideals and teachings of Lord Ram, fostering creativity and cultural awareness among the youth.
State Guest House Near Ram Janmabhoomi:
In a significant development, Chief Minister Dhami announced the construction of a state guest house near the newly erected Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The state government aims to provide accommodation for visitors, adding to the overall infrastructure surrounding the sacred site.
“A total of 4700.23 square meters of land has been allotted by the Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Council in Ayodhya for the state guest house of Uttarakhand, which will be constructed by the Uttarakhand government,” stated the chief minister.
Pran-Prathistha Ceremony and Temple Details:
The ‘pran-prathistha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 22 is at the heart of the preparations. Idols of significant figures such as elephants, lions, Lord Hanuman, and Garuda have adorned the entrance gate of the Ram Temple, adding to the visual splendor.
The temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, stands as a majestic three-storied shrine, measuring 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. With 392 pillars and 44 doors, it features five Mandaps (halls) – Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prarthna Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to grace the inauguration ceremony, with over 7,000 guests, including 3,000 VVIPs, priests, donors, and politicians, receiving invitations.
As Uttarakhand joins the nation in these historic celebrations, the spirit of unity and cultural pride resonates, marking the significance of this momentous occasion.
