Prime Minister Modi Criticizes Congress’s Inheritance Tax Proposal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over its proposed Inheritance Tax plan, which was suggested by Sam Pitroda, an advisor to Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. Addressing a rally in Surguja, Chhattisgarh, PM Modi accused the Congress of advocating for increased taxes on the middle class and burdening taxpayers with excessive financial obligations. He asserted that the Congress’s mantra of “loot” extends beyond life and continues even after death.

Without directly naming Rahul Gandhi or Sam Pitroda, PM Modi condemned the Inheritance Tax proposal, alleging that the Congress aims to seize wealth accumulated through hard work and deny it to future generations. He criticized the notion of imposing additional taxes on the middle class and emphasized the importance of passing on property to one’s children.

PM Modi highlighted the dynastic nature of the Congress party, suggesting that those who consider the party as their ancestral property seek to prevent ordinary Indians from passing on their wealth to their children. He framed the Congress’s proposed Inheritance Tax as another attempt to extract wealth from citizens and asserted that it reflects the party’s disregard for the aspirations of the people.

The Inheritance Tax proposal suggested by Sam Pitroda sparked controversy and drew widespread criticism, prompting the Congress party to distance itself from his remarks. Despite attempts to mitigate the fallout, Pitroda’s comments reignited debate over Congress’s wealth redistribution plans, which have been a subject of contention in Indian politics.

PM Modi’s criticism of the Inheritance Tax proposal underscores the ideological divide between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress party. As the debate over economic policies and taxation intensifies, the upcoming elections are likely to be influenced by competing visions for India’s economic future.
