Ravi Badola Murder Case: Public Outrage and High-Level Meeting by the Chief Minister

Following the growing public outrage over the Ravi Badola murder case, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting with officials. During the meeting, the Chief Minister issued directives to conduct background checks on individuals purchasing land in Uttarakhand. He also ordered a strict verification drive. Emphasizing that there is no place for criminals in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister reiterated the importance of maintaining law and order in the developing state. The public, increasingly angered by the incident, has been demanding the death penalty for Ravi Badola’s killers.

Demonstrators took to the streets on Thursday, blocking the 6 Number Pulia Chowk and demanding a permanent job and one crore rupees in compensation for Badola’s widow, free treatment for the injured, and 20 lakh rupees in compensation for each of them. Additionally, they called for the case to be fast-tracked in court. The incident occurred on a Saturday night when Deepak Badola, along with his friends Subhash and Manoj Negi, went to Sonu Bhardwaj’s house to retrieve his vehicle, which had been mortgaged without his consent. During the altercation, Sonu’s accomplice, Ramveer, opened fire, resulting in Deepak’s death and injuring the other two. The public’s outrage and the Chief Minister’s strong response underscore the critical need for stringent law enforcement and swift justice in this matter.
