As the highly anticipated consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya approaches, a remarkable surge in demand for Ramcharitmanas, the holy book narrating the life of Lord Ram, has led to the complete depletion of stock at the Gorakhpur-based Gita Press, as reported by Lalmani Tiwari, the manager of the renowned publishing house.
Unprecedented Demand:
The announcement of dates for the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony has triggered an overwhelming demand for religious literature, particularly Ramcharitmanas, Hanuman Chalisa, and Sunder Kaand. Lalmani Tiwari revealed that all branches of Gita Press are reporting a substantial increase in requests. The excitement surrounding the upcoming event has driven people to delve into the sacred texts.
“Since the day the dates were announced for the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony, the demand has increased for our books. All our branches are communicating the same things to us. People are getting excited about reading Ramcharitmanas, Hanuman Chalisa, and Sunder Kaand,” stated Lalmani Tiwari in an interview with ANI.
Supply Challenges:
Devidayal Agarwal, a trustee of Gita Press, acknowledged the challenge posed by the sudden surge in demand. He emphasized that the existing infrastructure and space limitations are hindering their ability to meet the growing requests. Over the last six months, the demand has seen an unprecedented spike, making it challenging for Gita Press to fulfill supply targets with the current setup.
“In the last 6 months, demand has skyrocketed, and the supply to fulfil demands seems impossible in the current setup. Gita Press needs a large area to fulfil supply targets,” expressed Devidayal Agarwal.
Preparations for Ram Temple Consecration:
The consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is scheduled for January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders are set to participate in the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony. Prime Minister Modi, in an audio message shared on X, expressed the profound sentiments he is experiencing, describing the consecration as an auspicious occasion. He announced the commencement of a special 11-day ritual, seeking blessings from the people for the success of the event.
Efforts are underway to replenish the depleted stock of Ramcharitmanas and other religious texts to ensure that the fervor and enthusiasm surrounding the Ram Temple consecration are met with a ready supply of spiritual literature.
