A horrific road accident occurred this morning on the Dehradun-Haridwar Highway near the Lachhiwala Toll Plaza. A truck loaded with mining materials lost control and rammed into a stationary car, leading to a devastating crash that involved multiple vehicles. The impact was so severe that one car was completely crushed between a pole and the truck.
Details of the Accident
According to eyewitnesses and authorities, a heavily loaded dumper truck (UK18CA6636) was traveling from Dehradun towards Haridwar. As it approached the Lachhiwala Toll Plaza, the truck reportedly suffered brake failure. Losing control, the vehicle crashed into three cars, severely damaging one parked car (UK07AF2506UK07), which was caught between the truck and a roadside pole.
Two Lives Lost in the Tragic Incident
Two individuals inside the severely damaged car lost their lives on the spot. The impact left the vehicle completely mangled, making the rescue operation extremely challenging. Upon receiving the information, a team from the local police and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) arrived at the scene to retrieve the bodies and manage the situation.
Victims Identified
Authorities have identified the deceased based on identification documents found at the scene:
- Ratanmani Uniyal – Resident of Indraprastha Enclave, Raipur
- Pankaj Kumar – Son of Kishori Lal Pawar
The bodies have been sent to the mortuary, and police are in the process of informing the families of the deceased.
Investigation and Legal Action
The police have taken the truck driver into custody for questioning. Initial reports suggest that the accident was caused due to a brake failure, but further investigation is underway to determine any negligence or other factors that might have contributed to the crash.
