Zika virus cases on the rise in India: Should you be worried?

The mosquito-borne Zika virus has been spreading across the country, with cases detected in Maharashtra, Kerala, and now Karnataka. The virus which majorly endangers pregnant women and the foetus, spreads primarily through mosquito bites, blood transfusion, sex, and breastfeeding from mothers to their babies. The Centre in an advisory asked states to maintain constant vigilance to curb further spread
