Enforcement Directorate Issues Seventh Summons to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

ED summons Kejriwal for seventh time

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued yet another summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, marking the seventh in the excise policy case. Despite the repeated summonses, Kejriwal has refused to appear before the agency, citing their illegality and emphasizing the need to await the court’s decision.

Arvind Kejriwal’s defiance of the ED’s summonses has sparked controversy, with political figures from various parties weighing in on the matter. While AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar reiterated the party’s commitment to the judicial process, former Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit urged Kejriwal to cooperate with the ED to resolve the issue.

On the other hand, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala labeled Kejriwal a ‘bhagoda’ (fugitive), accusing him of evading the ED due to his alleged involvement in a liquor scam. Poonawala’s remarks reflect the ongoing political tensions surrounding Kejriwal’s legal troubles.

The latest summons from the ED comes amidst AAP’s recent victory in the Chandigarh mayoral polls, a development that the party views as a trigger for the government’s actions against Kejriwal. AAP leaders have suggested that the ED’s actions are retaliatory, aimed at undermining the party’s success in Chandigarh.

Moreover, Atishi, a Delhi minister and AAP leader, has raised concerns about potential threats and messages indicating Kejriwal’s imminent arrest if AAP enters into an alliance with Congress or the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Atishi’s claims underscore the intense political maneuvering surrounding AAP and its leadership.

Meanwhile, discussions regarding an alliance between AAP and Congress for the Delhi Lok Sabha seats are reportedly in the final stages. While the details of the seat-sharing agreement are yet to be officially announced, it is expected that AAP will contest four out of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, leaving the remaining three to the Congress.

As the political landscape in Delhi heats up ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the ED’s summons to Kejriwal and the broader implications for AAP’s political alliances continue to draw attention and speculation.
